Letter from Experience Outdoors:

I am Jennifer's business partner, and handle most of the video production and editing for our company, while Jennifer concentrates primarily on web development. Since I will be the primary user of the CalDigit VR, she asked me to respond to you.

I have been a professional editor for the last 20 years, and have used a number of different editing systems and hardware during that period. Most of my time was spent doing a broad variety of projects for ...

Letter From Malone Media Group:

October 4th, 2007

Malone Media Group

CalDigit Testimonial:

We are a small company that fills tall orders. And when Mitsubishi Electric came at us with the tall task of producing their new product rollout program this year, it was a big deal. And that’s why the CalDigit HDPro drive array was one of our “secret bullets” this year.

Needless to say, Mitsubishi produces some of the highest quality HDTVs in the market. They were the first to ...

Letter From Steve Utaski:

I've had an HDPro for several months now and have been thrilled with its performance connected to my Quad Core G5 running Final Cut Studio. At the time I bought my HD Pro, I also acquired a eLane-1ex card mostly out of curiosity. Supposedly the eLane-1ex would allow me to connect the HDPro to my MacBook Pro and edit 10bit or HD source material.

Recently while in the final stages of an edit, my G5 suddenly WENT DOWN with client in the room. While scrambling ...

Letter From Harbor Branch:

"Between November 13th and December 10th, 2008, the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute research vessel Seward Johnson added 'ocean-going HD production facility' to its list of credentials.

During a mission to conduct sea trials on a pair of REMUS 6000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV's) and then use them to collect side-scan and multi-beam sonar images of deep coral reefs off the east coast of Florida, a mobile production facility was set up in ...

I've received this question from a customer at NAB:

"My VR un-mounts occasionally when it's connected via the e-Sata port, but otherwise works fine. What's happening?"

Response:

Unfortunately it's an issue inherent to the nature of e-Sata, thus there's no real solution.

Letter From Raymond Singer:

OK, OK, hard drives are getting ubiquitous. Or so it seems. Go into a Big Box Store, grab a 1 TB SATA drive off the shelf for just over $100. Stick a bunch of ¡¥em in a box, get a RAID card, hook everything up and you're ready to edit like a pro. Ooh, so sorry to disappoint. It just doesn't work that way.

I'm an FCP editor. I work in SD, uncompressed HD, HDV, DVCPRO HD and 2K; grab media from P2 cards, hard drives, SXS cards and SD cards; manipulate ...

Letter From CMPC production studio:

"Before using the CalDigit HDOne, we had a lot of dropped frame issues on our Avid system. Thanks to Hitron Technologies, who brought us a storage system with high performance, large capacity, and fully protection. The CalDigit HDOne not only has advanced technology, but is also quiet, which's suitable for our editing facilities. Surprisingly, the 8-bay, CalDigit HDOne can also work for 1:1 uncompressed editing, and provides sustained throughput when ...
